John Wick’s streak of vengeance isn’t finished yet, and joining the cast as one of his new enemies is Common. Chad Stahelski will start shooting JOHN WICK 2 next week with Basil Iwanyk producing.
No one is saying much about the plot, but it will continue the journey of hitman John Wick, who was forced out of retirement when a group of criminals broke into his house and killed his dog–the last gift he received from his dead wife. Common will be playing the big bad in the film, the head of security for a crime lord that faces off against Wick.
Common was recently in the Entourage, movie and will be seen next in The Wiz Live! on TV and in Suicide Squad in theaters. He’s also fresh off of an Oscar win for Best Original Song, which he wrote for the film Selma with John Legend.
John Wick 2 was originally going to be directed by both Stahelski and stuntman partner David Leitch, but Leitch dropped off to focus on another project, the Charlize Theron spy thriller Coldest City.
He is repped by CAA and Oasis Entertainment Management.
