Why to Read: This eye-catching premise is reminiscent of the best conspiracy thrillers, and the writing lives up to that potential. The protagonist’s exploration of the urgent moral conflict between his schizophrenia and his is only compounded by the fact that many of the stalkers and psychopaths from which he must protect clients are often mentally ill themselves. The manuscript shows a resilience and sophistication in its complex exploration of the guilt surrounding the protagonist’s desire to have children which would inevitably inherit his own mental illness that makes this story stand out from the genre’s typical fare.
