Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna and series star and writer Rene Gube are teaming up for comedy Big Men, which is now in development at CBS.
The sitcom follows an Asian-American rookie pro basketball player who dreams of a baller lifestyle, but standing in his way are his 13-year-old twin sisters whom he co-parents with his overbearing immigrant father.
Brosh McKenna and Gube are writing and executive producing the series together. CBS TV Studios, where Brosh McKenna is under an overall deal, will produce.
On Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Gube portrays the recurring character Father Joseph, a Filipino Catholic priest who’s so chill and laid back that he earned the nickname Father Brah. And as seen by the image of Gube in character above, he also enjoys a game of basketball.
As an executive story editor, he’s also written multiple episodes of the show. There are no current plans for Gube to appear on Big Men as an actor.
Gube has also written for and starred in TBS’ Ground Floor and NBC’s Up All Night. He is repped by UTA.
Brosh McKenna made her first foray into television with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which she co-created and runs with series star Rachel Bloom. Prior to the series, Brosh McKenna was best known for films like The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses. She is repped by CAA.
