| Why to Read: | This manuscript is a classic romantic comedy with a fun country music twist. The two lead characters are well-defined romance archetypes, the aloof small town guy and the superstar trying to return to her roots, and they work perfectly in this context. The supporting cast helps flesh out the town and world this story lives in, partially due to the surprisingly effective detail of having Malcolm work at a vacuum repair shop, which both undercuts his air of superiority and makes him feel very relatable. The writing is great, and perfectly fits the style and tone of the piece. This could easily be turned into a commercial romantic movie for any young star pairing. There are strong markets for country music and for this genre, so mixing the two is an obvious home run. |
