Breakout star Daisy Ridley is looking to board another franchise, but this time it’s in the realm of YA novels. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor has been tapped to star in the adaptation of CHAOS WALKING by Patrick Ness.
Doug Liman is set to direct the Lionsgate with the most recent draft of the script written by Jamie Linden. Allison Shearmur and Doug Davison have signed on as producers. Robert Zemeckis, who was originally attached to direct, will also serve as a producer.
The movie is based on Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting go, the first book in Ness’s dystopian trilogy. Set in a world where humans can hear one another’s thoughts via images, words and sounds called “Noise,” the story centers on the only boy in a town of men, who makes a surprising discovery that forces him to flee with his dog. With the townspeople in pursuit, the he stumbles upon a strange and silent girl. They set off on a thrilling journey in which the boy must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.
Ridley recently wrapped the yet-to-be-titled eighth installment of the Star Wars franchise. She is currently attached to star in the J.J. Abrams-produced Kolma and serves as the executive producer and narrator of the forthcoming documentary, The Eagle Huntress.
