Dakota Johnson and Zazie Beetz are in talks to join Armie Hammer in Annapurna’s untitled thriller. Under the Shadow helmer Babak Anvari is writing and directing the film with Two & Two Pictures’ Lucan Toh, AZA Films’ Christopher Kopp, and Annapurna Pictures on board to produce. The film is on the fast-tracking, with a March 29, 2019 release date.
The film follows a New Orleans bartender (Hammer) whose life begins to unravel after a series of disturbing and unexplainable events transpire when he picks up a phone left behind at his bar. Beetz and Johnson’s character details are being kept under wraps.
Johnson is best known for playing Anastasia in the Fifty Shades franchise, which released its final installment Fifty Shades Freed in February. She recently finished filming Peanut Butter Falcon opposite Shia LaBeouf, and the Amazon thriller Suspiria. The actress is currently shooting Bad Times at the El Royale with Jeff Bridges and Chris Hemsworth. She is represented by WME.
Beetz is returning to her hit TV show Atlanta, which just premiered on FX. The actress recently wrapped production on Steven Soderbergh’s new film High Flying Bird. She can be seen next portraying Domino in the upcoming Deadpool 2. Beetz is represented by Gersh.
