New Girl stars Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson are developing HENCHMAN, a new single-camera comedy series at Fox that follows a man fighting to find the balance between his family and pursuing his dream of being a successful henchman.
The script was written by the duo landed at Fox with a script plus penalty commitment. Vali Chandrasekaran will supervise and serve as showrunner. Wayans is attached to star and will executive produce alongside Johnson, Chandrasekaran as well as Max Winkler and Jason Carden from The Walcott Company.
Wayans also worked with Johnson on the feature Let’s Be Cops. His previous TV credits include the cult comedy Happy Endings and starred in the features How to be Single and Big Hero 6. He recently appeared in Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Johnson is currently developing many TV projects including 100 Grand and Bachelor Party. He has had many movie credits as of late including the indie comedy Joshy, Jurassic World, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Date. He can be seen next The Mummy reboot starring Tom Cruise.
