The film is inspired by Robert Cannan and Corinna McFarlane’s docu about Angsbacka. Once a year, the area has a two-week-long festival that includes thousands of participants. The film will follow a jock who is separated from his friends and winds up at the festival by mistake.
The film hails from StudioCanal who will finance and distribute and is produced by Blueprint Pictures and Graham Broadbent. Mazer will co-write the script with Jamie Minoprio and Jonathan Stern.
Mazer is best known for his previous work with Sacha Baron Cohen on projects such as Ali G, Borat, and Bruno. He made his feature directorial debut with the British romantic comedy I Give It A Year for Working Title.
Mazer is repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment, and United Agents in the UK.
