Bleecker Street recently nabbed the U.S. rights to big screen adaptation of Les Standiford’s book THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS which has tapped Dan Stevens, Christopher Plummer, and Jonathan Pryce to star. The film tells the story of how Charles Dickens created his iconic A Christmas Carol.
Stevens will play Dickens and Pryce will play Dickens’ father. Plummer is set to play Scrooge. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day helmer Bharat Nalluri is set to direct the adaptation penned my Mozart in the Jungle‘s Susan Coyne. Production is expected to begin in December and is slated for a 2017 release date.
Robert Mickelson and Ian Sharples Will serve as producers producing. Paula Mazur, Mitchell Kaplan, Andrew Karpen. and Vadim Jean have signed on to executive produce. Parallel Films and Rhombus Media are co-production partners.
Downton Abbey alum Stevens can be seen in the upcoming FX comic book series Legion as well as Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast as the titular Beast opposite Emma Watson. He was also tapped to star in Gareth Evans forthcoming thriller Apostle. He is repped by WME and Julian Belfrage Associates.
Academy Award-winning actor Plummer is currently filming the epic Cliffs of Freedom and can be seen in the upcoming dramedy Boundaries opposite Vera Farmiga. He is repped by WME, ICM Partners, and The Pitt Group.
Pryce recently starred as High Sparrow in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He also starred in the award-winning miniseries Wolf Hall. He can be seen in the upcoming FX miniseries Taboo with Tom Hardy. He is repped by UTA and Julian Belfrage Associates.
