Daniel Radcliffe saved Hogwarts time and again in the Harry Potter franchise, but he’ll have to save his ex-girlfriend in the new Hunger Games-esque action comedy GUNS AKIMBO, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm) is directing from his own script. Occupant Entertainment’s Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino are producing, while executive producers include Will Clarke and Andy Mayson of Altitude Films, as well as Michael Mailis of Hyperion Entertainment.
Radcliffe will play a mild-mannered man named Miles whose mundane existence is turned upside-down when he finds himself in the crosshairs of a mysterious website that forces complete strangers to fight in a gladiator-like battle to the death. Miles manages to elude his first opponent, but when his ex-girlfriend Nova is kidnapped, he must overcome his fears and continue fighting to get her back.
Guns Akimbo will be shopped to international buyers at Cannes, and Radcliffe is always popular this time of year because the Harry Potter star has enormous value overseas.
One thing I’ve always admired about Radcliffe is his willingness to work with new filmmakers like Howden. He recently starred in the indies films Swiss Army Man and Imperium, and he has the indies Jungle and Beast of Burden on the horizon. The Now You See Me 2 actor is represented by UTA, Artist Rights Group and attorney Fred Toczek.
