Danny Boyle, who was recently reported in the running to direct Bond 25, is now teaming with Love Actually writer Richard Curtis on an untitled comedy for Universal.
Details are being kept under wraps, but it is known to be musically themed and set in the 60’s or 70’s. Universal is hoping to shoot as early as summer if casting comes together.
Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce alongside Matt Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Curtis and Boyle will also produce.
Boyle most recently directed Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender and also has his FX series Trust bowing this spring. Boyle is the filmmaker behind Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, and Slumdog Millionaire, for which he won a best directing Oscar. He is represented by WME and Independent Talent Group.
Curtis is the celebrated British writer behind Bridget Jones’s Diary and Four Wedding and a Funeral. He most recently worked on the upcoming musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. He is represented by United Agents and Gang.
