Danny McBride is best known for his comedy roles, specifically as the unfiltered and blunt baseball player from Eastbound and Down. But it looks like his career is about to take a sharp turn into sci-fi as he is in early talks to join the cast of Ridley Scott‘s ALIEN: COVENANT.
Once he is officially signed on, McBride will join Katherine Waterston and Michael Fassbender, who will be reprising his role from 2012’s Prometheus. The latest installment of the iconic, big budget 20th Century Fox franchise will be produced by the director’s Scott Free shingle.
Alien: Covenant will continue from where Prometheus left off, following the crew from the colony ship Covenant as they discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but turns out to be a dangerous world in which David (Fassbender) is the sole inhabitant.
Last year, McBride was seen in Aloha and Rock the Kasbah. He will lend his voice to the upcoming Angry Birds Movie as well as the adult animated comedy, Sausage Party. He will be seen next in the HBO dark comedy series, Vice Principals, which bows at SXSW next month.
He is represented by CAA.
