Now that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky is off “The Wolverine” his slate looks potentially open, with Disney and Warner Bros. attempting to fill the available space. It appears Disney wants the helmer to take the director’s chair and replace Tim Burton in their upcoming re-imagining of the classic “Sleeping Beauty” except now from the perspective of the “Mistress of all Evil,” MALEFICENT, played by Angelina Jolie.
On the other side of Burbank, Warner Bros. wants the director to helm their bible epic, MOSES, which is a straight retelling of the man leading his people out of Egypt, penned by Stuart Hazeldine and Michael Green. It was widely reported that Aronofsky is working on a graphic novel that recounts the story of Noah, so perhaps, he can add to his bible retelling collection and jump on board with Moses. Warner Bros. may also have a one-up on Disney, as he is reportedly working on yet another Batman reboot simply named “Batman: Year One.”
Aronofsky is repped by CAA.
