Dave Bautista Set To Star In “Blade Runner” Sequel

There is no word yet on Bautista’s character, but it is reported that it will be an “important supporting role”. The film will be set in decades after the 1982 original directed by Ridley Scott. Ford will reprise his iconic role as Detective Rick Deckard. Co-writer of the original, is back on board to write the sequel alongside . is set to direct. The sequel is slated for a Jan. 12, 2018 release date.

Based on the ’s 1968 sci-fi novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Blade Runner follows Ford’s Deckard as he tracks down genetically engineered replicants that have illegally escaped to Earth in order to extend their life span.

Bautista is best known for his role as Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he will reprise in the 2017 sequel. He also starred in the most recent installment of the James Bond franchise, Spectre and can be seen in the upcoming films Kickboxer: Vengeance as well as the action pic Marauders opposite Bruce Willis.
