Warner Bros. and DC are looking to rise from the ashes of 2011’s critically panned Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds. The studio has taken a huge step forward on revamping the project by tapping David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to write the script for the new version of the franchise, GREEN LANTERN CORPS.
The new version is based on the comic book origin story and is being described as Lethal Weapon in space with a focus on the relationship between Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern audiences are familiar with as well as John Stewart, a former marine sniper turned Lantern Corps member.
DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will serve as as executive producers while Goyer is set to produce.
Goyer is no stranger to the world of comic book movies, having written The Dark Knight trilogy and more recently, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Rhodes recently wrote the script for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming remake of Fantastic Voyage.
