David Krumholtz, Patrick Fischler, Fisher Stevens, and Clancey Brown have all joined the expanding cast of HAIL CAESAR! The Coen brothers comedy follows a fixer in Hollywood circa 1950s who works for the studios to protect the stars of the day. The illustrious cast includes George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Frances McDormand, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Jonah Hill, and Josh Brolin. Krumholtz, Fischler, and Stevens will all play screenwriters who happen to be Communists, while Brown has been cast as an actor in the movie within the movie – Hail, Caesar!
Krumholtz is best known for two of his most diverse roles – playing the sassy sidekick Michael in 10 Things I Hate About You and playing the nerdy genius Charlie Eppes on Numb3rs, although those of a certain generation will always remember him fondly as Bernard the Elf from The Santa Clause franchise. More recently, Krumholtz appeared in the FX series The League and in the indie drama The Judge with Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. He will also lend his voice to the animated comedy Sausage Party along with James Franco and Johan Hill.
Similarly, Fischler got his start on TV, appearing on series like Lost, Southland, and Mad Men. He has also appeared on the silver screen in Mulholland Drive, Old School, and Atlas Shrugged: Part I. Fischler has been cast in Warren Beatty’s upcoming Howard Hughes biopic, as well as the sci-fi thriller The Diabolical.
Stevens, who also played a small part on Lost, is known as the non-robot guy from Short Circuit. He recently appeared in The Grand Budapest Hotel and will next be trying his hand at producing Racing Extinction and The Invisible Woman. He previously produced the critically acclaimed documentary The Cove.
Last but not least, you’ll remember Brown either as the tough-as-nails prison guard from Shawshank Redemption or as the headless sheriff on Sleepy Hollow. He has also appeared in Starship Troopers, The Hurricane, and Cowboys & Aliens. Right now he’s all over the TV landscape, lending his voice to series like Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while also appearing on The Flash.
Krumholtz is repped by Gersh and Principato-Young Entertainment. Fischler is repped by Abrams Artists Agency and Main Title Entertainment. Stevens is repped by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment. Brown is repped by ICM and Pop Art Management.
