Indian actress and model, Deepika Padukone, is set to make her Hollywood debut in XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE. Padukone has signed on to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel. Her character is a strong and sharp huntress who helps Cage with his latest mission.
In addition to Padukone, Diesel is joined Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev and Jet Li. Samuel L. Jackson will also comeback to reprise his role. D.J. Caruso is set to direct the third installment of the franchise which originated in 2002 with Diesel. In 2005, Ice Cube stepped in for Diesel for the sequel.
XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is slated to start production later this month and the details of the plot have been kept under wrap. The script will be written by F. Scott Frazier. Diesel will also serve as a producer alongside his sister, Samantha Vincent. Joe Roth and his partner Jeff Kirschenbaum are also set to produce.
Padukone is known for her role in numerous films in India. She starred in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Happy New Year, which are some of the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time.
