Do you like puppies? Of course you do. What are you, a monster? So you love puppies, and if you’re reading this website, I’m betting you love movies, too. Would you like to see a movie about puppies? Well then have I got an article for you!

IFC’s Sundance Selects has acquired North American rights to Dana Nachman and Don Hardy’s doggy documentary , which opened the 2018 Slamdance Festival.

The film follows a litter of puppies from the moment they’re born as they begin their quest to become guide dogs for the blind. Cameras follow these pups through an intense two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners from harm. Along the way, these remarkable animals rely on a community of dedicated individuals who train them to do amazing, life-changing things in the service of their human. The stakes are high and not every dog can make the cut. Only the best of the best. The pick of the litter.

The film was produced by Nachman and Hardy, and executive produced by Ian Reinhard, Dan Braun and Josh Braun.

“Everyone at IFC Films/Sundance Selects understands how dogs can change one’s life and this film epitomizes this. We are so excited to introduce these amazing animals to audiences,” said the company’s longtime EVP Arianna Bocco.

“We couldn’t be happier to be partnering with Sundance Selects on the release of our film. In a world where the news gets more bleak by the day, we need more stories of inspiring people (and animals) doing amazing things. Pick of the Litter is one of those stories and we can’t wait to get it out into the world,” Nachman and Hardy said in a joint statement.

The deal was negotiated by Bocco on behalf of Sundance Selects/IFC Films and by Matt Burke, Josh Braun, and Ben Braun of Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.
