Tweetable Takeaway: Celebrate the Holidays and @bbcdoctorwho Christmas Special with a “First Noel”-inspired review from @rosejermusyk.
The 2016 DOCTOR WHO Christmas Special The Husbands of River Song has finally aired and in keeping with the holiday spirit our review takes inspiration from the heroine and a classic English Christmas song to honor River’s journey with The Doctor.
THE LAST NOWELL
From the first made up of lasts
and always the last to know
with a pen at the ready
and pages to go,
though the pages might run out
still you may run faster
and then bootstrap a story
to still outlast her.
You are loved when you love not.
You are known when you know not.
How does one say, “I’m the future, forgot.”
See angels weep and time rewrite
and take each gift you’re giv’n,
and remember to dance with
each death that you live.
For we break when you break,
when you burn so burn all
with laughter on our lips
we fall to your call.
You are loved and still you run.
You are known and yet unknown.
Grand are the days when a story is grown.
Let us be mad. Let us run wild.
Let us spout “Hate” in fun.
Let us have this one last night
until it is done.
Let us fill it up with tales.
Let us fill it with songs.
Let us fill it with awkwardness,
all that belongs.
We have loved and loved full well.
What you know you never tell.
So fill the pages of this lover’s tale.
