Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Domhnall Gleeson, Christina Applegate, and Thomas Haden Church are starring in CRASH PAD, a romantic comedy written by Jeremy Catalino and directed by Alexander Payne’s go-to editor, Kevin Tent. Production is already underway in Vancouver.
Payne will executive produce, along with Indomitable Entertainment’s Stuart Pollok, Dominic Ianno and Jon Ferro, while Joseph McKelheer and Bill Kiely will executive produce through their Windowseat Entertainment. Rob Deege, Lauren Bratman and William Horberg are producing.
The script, which landed on the Black List, centers around Gleeson’s character, a hopeless romantic who thinks he’s found true love with an older woman, played by Applegate. When he learns that she’s married and their affair is merely an attempt to get back at her neglectful husband, Church, he threatens to blackmail her. The plan backfires, however, when the husband decides the best way to get back at his wife is to move in with Gleeson’s character and adopt the slacker’s life of debauchery.
