Don Cheadle will reprise his role as Col. “Rhodey” Rhodes in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. It’s unclear if he’ll be Iron Patriot or War Machine or maybe even stepping in for Iron Man but he’ll be in the movie and in an armored suit. The plot is still being kept under wraps but this installment will see the heroes squaring off against the evil, robotic Ultron. The cast already includes Robert Downey Jr, James Spader, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
I’m all for this. More Cheadle in everything. He shined brightly in “Iron Man Three” and he can match Downey tit for tat in both charm and humor. He’s great in almost everything he does, be sure to check out “The Guard” and “House of Lies” if you need immediate proof, and I’m glad he’s getting more exposure. Plus, the Marvel universe could stand to get a little more diverse.
Marvel Maestro Joss Whedon will direct from his own script while Marvel Mastermind Kevin Feige will produce.
Cheadle was last seen in the aforementioned “Iron Man Three” and will soon appear in “Kill the Trumpet Player” which he will write, direct and produce.
He is repped by UTA.
