Rick Famuyiwa made a statement with his film Dope, showing a little-seen perspective in LA culture that won Best Editing at the 2015 Sundance Film festival. He has now signed-on to an UNTITLED HACKING PROJECT from Charles King’s media venture company Macro.
The thriller tells the story of a brilliant kid raised in the New York projects who secretly founded a notorious hacker group.
Famuyiwa previously made the The Wood, Brown Sugar, and Our Family Wedding, and is currently working on HBO’s Confirmation starring Kerry Washington.
The topic of hacking has been growing steadily in the last year for film and television. One of the summer’s biggest hits was the USA series Mr. Robot, and just this week it was announced by MGM that the 80s film WarGames with Matthew Broderick is going to get a modern reboot.
