“Dope” Director Rick Famuyiwa Takes On Hacking In Latest Project

made a statement with his film Dope, showing a little-seen perspective in LA culture that won Best Editing at the 2015 Sundance festival. He has now signed-on to an UNTITLED HACKING PROJECT from ’s media venture company Macro.

King and are producing the film for Macro, the company’s first film that is focused on for diverse audiences. 

The thriller tells the story of a brilliant kid raised in the New York who secretly founded a notorious hacker group. 

Famuyiwa previously made the The WoodBrown Sugar, and Our Family Wedding, and is currently working on HBO’s Confirmation starring Kerry Washington.

The topic of hacking has been growing steadily in the last year for film and television. One of the summer’s biggest hits was the USA series Mr. Robot, and just this week it was announced by MGM that the 80s film WarGames with Matthew Broderick is going to get a modern reboot.
