Ed Helms and Amanda Seyfried have been tapped as the leads of the comedy, THE CLAPPER. Dito Montiel is slated to adapt and direct the feature based on a book he authored which tells the story about a professional clapper for infomercials that gets 15 minutes of fame on a late night talk show. After his fame fades, he loses his job and develops a relationship who works at a gas station.
Montiel, who directed A Guide For Recognizing Your Saints and Man Down, will also produce alongside Robin Schorr as well as Helms and Mike Falbo under their Pacific Electric production banner.
Last year, Helms appeared in the reboot, Vaction as well as the holiday film Love the Coopers. Next up for him is the comedy Bastards with Owen Wilson and J.K. Simmons, which will be released later this year. He also stars in Alejandro Innaritu’s Starz series, One Percent along with Ed Harris and Hillary Swank.
Seyfried also starred in Love the Coopers with Helms last year and starred in the follow up, Ted 2. She can be seen next in the comedy The Last Word, alongside Shirley MacLaine and in Young Americans with Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan.
