Eddie Murphy “Cook”s Up Some Drama

has signed on to replace Samuel L. Jackson in Bruce Beresford’s . The drama tells the true story of the friendship formed between a young girl and her dying mother and their African-American cook in New Orleans. Murphy replaces Jackson in the role of the cook. Beresford is directing from a penned by scribe Susan McMartin.

Murphy is best known for his comedy roles but he has appeared in dramas like Dreamgirls and, well, I guess that’s it. He’s best known for his performances in Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, and Shrek. His upcoming include Ivan Reitman’s comedy Triplets, a sequel to 1988’s Twins, and Beverly Hills Cop 4, where he’ll reprise his role as Axel Foley.
