Brits Eddie Redmayne and director Tom Hooper will be working together again for THE DANISH GIRL, a drama following real-life Danish painter Einar Wegener who, in 1931, became the first man to undergo a sex-change operation. Redmayne and Hooper previously worked together on 2012’s “Les Misérables.”
The project has been in development for a while but can’t seem to get the attached directors or actors to stick. Lasse Hallstrom, Tomas Alfredson, Neil LaBute and Anand Tucker were all previously involved in the project, as were Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachel Weisz.
Hooper is best known for his period dramas including “Les Misérables” and biopics “The King’s Speech” and “The Damned United.” Redmayne is the ginger we all know from “Les Mis” and, more recently, “My Week With Marilyn.” Next up for Redmayne is another biopic, “The Theory of Everything” which he will headline as Stephen Hawking opposite Felicity Jones.
Hooper is repped by ICM and Independent Talent Group. Redmayne is repped by CAA, United Agents and Parseghian Planco.
