Nurse Jackie star, Edie Falco, has been cast opposite Kate Mara in the Untitled Megan Leavey War Drama to be directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Falco will play “Jackie,” Leavey’s mother.
The film is based on the true story of Megan Leavey who worked in the K9 unit in Iraq. She worked with military combat dog Rex, who together saved countless lives from 2004-2006 searching for roadside bombs. After she was wounded in combat she received a Purple Heart and was discharged, however Rex remained on active duty. After a five year fight, Leavey was able to adopt Rex and bring him home.
Falco is most famous for her role on the HBO series The Sopranos and can currently be seen on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. Mara is in theaters now starring in hit film The Martian.
