Rising talent Edward Holcroft is set for a comeback in KINGSMAN 2, the follow up to Matthew Vaughn’s smash hit 2014 action adventure flick. He joins Taron Egerton, who will reprise his role along with Mark Strong, while Halle Berry and Julianne Moore have also been recruited to the franchise.
Kingsman: The Secret Service took the box office by storm upon its release, grossing over $400 million worldwide. The story centered around a spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program, just as a global threat emerges from the a twisted tech genius. Holcroft played Charlie Hesketh, a recruit who fails to make the Kingsman services and thus joins the ranks of the villain Valentine. While it was suggested that Charlie may have died at the end of Kingsman, it was never outright stated – opening the door for Holcroft’s return.
Vaughn and Jane Goldman will pen the script for Kingsman 2, from the characters by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Vaughn is also expected to return to direct, though has yet to confirm.
Holcroft also starred in the 2014 horror comedy Vampire Academy, and opposite Oscar winner Mark Rylance in the Masterpiece drama Wolf Hall. He recently wrapped on an adaptation of the Julian Barnes novel The Sense of an Ending.
Holcroft is repped by WME.
