Sony Pictures is in talks with Elizabeth Banks to direct their reboot of CHARLIE’S ANGELS. The show and film that features female flatfoots was halted in 2011 after an underwhelming attempt at reviving the project for television, which may have been due in part to the debacle that was 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Banks’ penchant for film de femme powerhouse productions may be just what Sony and the Angels need.
Banks is currently a hot commodity. The actor/producer has added “director” to her slash career with Pitch Perfect 2, contributing millions of dollars in profits towards Universal’s best year in box-office history. And that was just her first outing as a director. She is already attached to direct Red Robin for Universal, a YA fantasy book series about class warfare and magic.
