Elle Fanning is set to star in John Cameron Mitchell’s adaptation of the Neil Gaiman short story HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES. The sci-fi romance follows a couple of British 1970s teenage boys who go to a party to meet girls, only to find that the exchange students there are more interplanetary than foreign. Phillippa Goslett co-wrote the script with Mitchell which changes the story up a bit, focusing on the boys who meet a female alien tourist who has set her sights on the dangerous London suburb of Croydon.
Fanning, once known only as Dakota’s little sister, has made quite a name for herself, starring in projects like “We Bought a Zoo,” “Young Ones,” and “Maleficent.” Next up, Fanning will lend her voice to the animated adventure comedy “The Boxtrolls” and will star in the biopic “Mary Shelley.”
