Emma Thompson, Daniel Bruhl, Jamie Dornan, Lily James and Alicia Vikander have all joined the cast of John Wells’ ADAM JONES. Previously titled, “Chef,” the comedy centers on a chef who loses his highly-rated restaurant in France and tries to mount a comeback in London by re-assembling his team. The newbies join Bradley Cooper, Omar Sy, Sam Keeley, and Sienna Miller. Casting details are being kept quiet for now, but this will be Dornan’s next feature after he wraps “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
Thompson has been appearing in very family-friendly fare lately, having starred in “Saving Mr. Banks,” Pixar’s “Brave,” and “The Love Punch,” a comedy also starring Pierce Brosnan. Thompson is getting her feet wet in various areas of film after penning the script for the latest adaptation of “Annie” for Columbia Pictures, and starring in Ken Kwapis’ upcoming adaptation of “A Walk in the Woods.”
Bruhl’s career has been blowing up after his turn as Daniel Berg in “The Fifth Estate” and Niki Lauda in “Rush,” all after his scene stealing role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds.” Next up for Bruhl is a starring role opposite Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren in drama “Woman in Gold.”
Dornan doesn’t have too many credits to his name yet – he had a small role in “Marie Antoinette” and appeared in a few episodes of “Once Upon a Time” – but if you don’t know his name now, you soon will. Dornan beat out loads of other Hollywood hunks, nabbing the starring role of Christan Grey in Focus Features’ “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
James is known to Anglophiles all over the world for her role as sweet but sly Lady Rose MacClare on “Downton Abbey.” For those with racier sensabilities, she also played Poppy in “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.” Next up, James will star in Kenneth Branagh’s pauper-to-princess live action family drama “Cinderella.”
Vikander is the Swedish actress who appeared in “The Fifth Estate” and Joe Wright’s “Anna Karenina.” She is next set to appear in romantic drama “Tulip Fever” with Christoph Waltz and Judi Dench, as well as Legendary’s action/fantasy flick “Seventh Son” with Kit Harington and Jeff Bridges.
Thompson is repped by WME and Hamilton Hodell. Bruhl is with WME and Kuranda Management. Dornan is repped by UTA and United Agents in the UK. James is with Tavistock Wood Management and UTA. Vikander is with UTA, Actors in Scandinavia and Tavistock Wood Management.
