Eric Bana, Theo James, and Jack Reynor are all in talks to join THE SECRET SCRIPTURE. Based on the novel, the drama centers on Roseanne, an elderly woman in a mental hospital who begins writing a memoir, but her recollection of events is far different from what actually happened. Vanessa Redgrave will star as Roseanne, while Rooney Mara has been cast as the younger version of her. Bana would play a rebellious doctor responsible for Roseanne, while James would play the local priest and Reynor would be cast as the young Roseanne’s love interest. Jeremy Irons and Jonathan Rhys Meyers round out the cast.
Bana is most well known for his roles in blockbusters like “Hulk,” “Troy,” and “Star Trek,” but has also starred as the male lead in romantic dramas “Lucky You” and “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” More recently, Bana starred in the horror/thriller “Deliver Us from Evil” opposite Olivia Munn.
James has shot to superstar status after being cast as Four in the hit YA franchise “Divergent.” He also briefly starred as Detective Walter Clark in CBS’ drama series “Golden Boy.” James will be reprising his roles for the remainder of the “Divergent” series and will star with Dakota Fanning and Richard Gere in “Franny.”
Reynor has appeared in indie dramas like “Cold” and “Glassland” but has also had roles in “Delivery Man” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” Reynor recently wrapped filming on drama “Macbeth,” as well as thriller “Girls’ Night Out,” which centers on a young Princess Margaret and her sister Elizabeth who sneak out of the palace to have a wild night on the town.
