Brian Buckley is moving onto his second feature film with WHERE THE WHITE MAN RUNS AWAY with Evan Peters to star. Buckley previously directed The Bronze which opened the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
Where The White Man Runs Away, based on the book written by Jay Bahadur, The Pirates Of Somalia, tells the story of the Canadian journalist’s time spent among the pirates of Somalia and providing the first close-up look into the group and their lives. He famously interviewed the pirate that hijacked the Maersk Alabama prior to taking the ship. Those later events were the focus of the Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips. Bahadur will adapt his book for the screen.
BCDF Pictures and Kalahari Film & Media are producing, with Jane Rosethal executive producing.
Star of the film, Evan Peters, is most well-known for his work on American Horror Story and as Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men franchise. He will next be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse and Elvis & Nixon.
Buckley is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
Peters is repped at CAA and Relevant.
