{EXCLUSIVE} 2015 Launch Pad Alum Ahmadu Garba Signs With Epicenter’s Allard Cantor And Jarrod Murray
0〉Garba represents the 106th Launch Pad writer signed in just two years!
We’re pleased to announce that Allard Cantor and Jarrod Murray of Epicenter have signed two-time Launch Pad alum Ahmadu Garba! Founded by Cantor in 2012 with Murray quickly joining the ranks, Epicenter is both a management and a production company that keeps its focus on character-driven material. As Garba’s work consistently features strong main characters with alluring and original points of view, there’s no doubt that he’ll soon join fellow Epicenter writers on topping year-end lists like the Young & Hungry List and Blood List.
Born in Washington, D.C., Garba grew up overseas and returned to the U.S. for college where he received his B.A. at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He fell in love with telling stories and decided to drop out of law school and move to LA to pursue a writing career. He’s worked on various projects since, including Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Serenity, and Lucky You. He also worked on Two And A Half Men and the pilot for Big Bang Theory. He recently wrapped production on his indie feature, Shine, a project that he co-wrote.
Garba has placed in both the Launch Pad Pilot and Feature Competition this year with scripts that showcase not only his writing prowess, but the sheer range he possesses. His drama pilot The Eleventh Hour is a legal procedural that features a former death-row inmate who suffers from constant hallucinations yet joins an amnesty organization to investigate capital punishment cases which have been overturned by the state supreme court. With compelling characters and a unique structure, the mystery of the show is just begging to be solved.
His feature Augustus is a sword-and-sandal epic that tells the story of young Octavius and his quest to avenge the assassination of Julius Caesar while rising to power as Emperor Augustus. A blockbuster waiting to happen, Augustus is packed with action, drama, and suspense that kept all our judges immersed in the world. What’s more, the script finished as a semi-finalist in the 2015 Nicholl Fellowship competition.
Congratulations to Garba on the signing—he represents the 106th Launch Pad writer signed in just 2 years!
