〉McChesney made the 2015 Launch Pad Semi-Finals with her script Shudder Hollow
We’re pleased to announce that 2015 Launch Pad Pilot Competition Semi-Finalist Sarah McChesney has been signed at Benderspink by managers Scott Stoops and David Baggelaar. Benderspink are committed to representing distinct voices from all walks of life, and are also a formidable production company. They have worked on everything from The Ring to We’re the Millers.
Benderspink has also been closely involved with the Launchpad competitions since day one, with managers Jake Wagner and Daniel Vang acting as judges, as well as partnering with us to offer a Guaranteed Signing option to contestants, wherein at least one writer will be hand-selected by Benderspink for representation.
McChesney is a writer and improv actor in Los Angeles, and is an alumni of both The Groundlings and The Upright Citizens Brigade. She is also a member of the Jim Henson Company’s Puppet Up! – Uncensored, a live stage show combining puppetry and improvisation. A 2015 HBOAccess Writers Fellowship winner, McChesney has served as a story editor on a number of Bravo reality shows, including The Real Housewives of Orange County.
Besides comedy writing, McChesney also writes science fiction and horror, and she’s passionate about creating intelligent, funny, and adventurous female-driven projects.
Her Launch Pad script Shudder Hollow features a young girl who’s invited into a secret society where her and her companions must solve the mystery of their spooky town where children go missing and monsters may be real.
In the vein of Nancy Drew or even a darker Scooby Doo, Hollow puts pre-teens at the center of a story with very real danger and convincing scares. Besides reminding us of everything we loved about ‘90s supernatural kids’ series, like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the script has the smarts of Veronica Mars to boot.
McChesney marks the 75th writer signed in just the first two years of the Launch Pad Competition!
