Angus Wall is set to direct Fury actor Logan Lerman in ROTHCHILD from Black Box Management and Voltage Pictures. The script, from John Patton Ford, was featured on both the 2014 Hit List and Black List.
Pitched as The Count of Monte Cristo meets Kill Bill, the thriller centers on the black sheep of a wealthy family who makes his way up to becoming sole heir by eliminating the heirs ahead of him one by one.
Nicholas Chartier, Craig Flores, and Zev Foreman will produce for Voltage, while Mike Dill and Lowell Shapiro will produce for Black Box. Babacar Diene is overseeing for Voltage, which is both producing and financing the project.
Lerman, who recently boarded the drama pic Sidney Hall, has been attached to the lead since April of 2015, playing the lead role of Becket, the antihero who chooses fortune over love and family. While no other casting announcements have been made at this point, sources say that producers are eyeing an Emilia Clarke-type for a major supporting female role who plays a love interest opposite Lerman’s character.
Wall has had a remarkable career as an editor, which includes two Academy Award wins with partner Kirk Baxter: the first in 2010 for The Social Network and the second in 2011 for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, both from director David Fincher. The pair have been Fincher’s go-to editors for many of the director’s films, including Panic Room, Zodiac, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Wall is also the man behind the iconic opening credit sequence for Game of Thrones, as well as the opening credits of The Americans. He served as an executive producer on the award-winning documentaries The Unknown Known: The Life and Times of Donald Rumsfeld and Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom.
In addition to Rothchild, Wall is attached to direct the action flick Empire at Open Road Films and will direct and produce an adaptation of Robert Goolrich’s 2012 novel, Heading Out To Wonderful.
Wall is repped by CAA and Gotham/Principal.
