〉 Tenney has been brought on to rewrite the sci-fi script from Peter Gaffney
Sources close to The Tracking Board have confirmed that up-and-coming screenwriter Brandon Lee Tenney has been contracted to rewrite the sci-fi thriller TERRESTRIAL for Lionsgate. Terrestrial, written by 2014 Young & Hungry writer Peter Gaffney, has Tripp Vinson on board to produce with Adam Rodin, while James Myers is overseeing for Lionsgate.
The story has been pitched as Close Encounters of the Third Kind meets Source Code. Over the Mojave Desert, an alien ship the size of the Chrysler building falls from the sky. Exhibiting no signs of life or communication, a team of brave, possibly insane, individuals must venture inside on a mission that could be mankind’s greatest discovery–or gruesome death. What they will find is a power beyond their understanding, wonderous and extremely dangerous, one that will change them forever.
When Lionsgate bought the project in 2014, the news turned heads as it was Gaffney’s first foray into features following an extensive career writing in the animated TV space, from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters to The Simpsons.
Tenney is one of the industry’s hottest young writers, with an aptitude for crafting science fiction scripts that makes him perfectly suited for the Terrestrial gig. His original screenplay They Came From Above was optioned by Focus Features with Appian Way producing, while he’s also adapting the book Dead Mountain for Straight Up Films.
Gaffney is repped by UTA and Energy Entertainment.
Tenney is repped by WME and Art/Work Entertainment.
