It’s our pleasure to announce Dan Benamor’s feature, Onward, Through the Night, as the 16th Tracking Board Recommends script! Benamor’s action/thriller wowed our readers with its unique setting, motivated characters, memorable visual elements, and exciting action. Most of all, it was clear that Benamor’s writing showcases a strong and unique voice, with his words being confident, capable, and demonstrating a clear vision of a fully realized world. The script has similarities to both “The Raid” and “John Wick,” in regards to the flashy and stylized action, while still maintaining originality with it’s locations and themes.
Onward, Through the Night, tells the story of a former hit man with terminal cancer, who is physically haunted by the souls of people he’s killed and decides to take revenge on his boss who he blames for the degradation of both himself and his city.
Benamor was once on the path to a stable career as a psychologist until a writing sample got him a scholarship to the Vancouver Film School’s Screenwriting for Film & TV Program. After completing film school, Benamor moved quickly from an assistant to Head of Development for Nasser Entertainment, and he has since developed over a dozen produced films. More recently, he transitioned back to his roots and now writes full-time.
For those unfamiliar, the Tracking Board’s script coverage program not only offers professional unbiased feedback, but we are also always on the lookout for distinctive voices like Benamor’s and the next hot script. When a script receives a “Recommend” from our readers, we recognize the project through the Tracking Board Recommends program. All scripts that receive a “Recommend” through the coverage service are announced on The Tracking Board website, forums, and feeds, allowing their script to be seen as the next big thing to the thousands of industry professionals who follow The Tracking Board.
Since the launch of the TB Recommends program, 14 of the 15 writers honored have gone on to gain representation via our referral, with agency and management companies such as UTA, CAA, Madhouse Entertainment, Circle of Confusion, and more. Six of these writers have even seen their TBR scripts set up at companies like Warner Bros., Scott Free, Vertigo Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox.
Benamor will also be joining our exclusive TB Alumni family, home to some of the hottest young writers in Hollywood. This ever-expanding club is filled with TB Recommended writers as well as the finalists of our Launch Pad Feature and Pilot Competitions.
