〉Clarke is on board for the romantic dramedy based on James Collins’s novel Beginner’s Greek.
Emilia Clarke is set to star in the romantic dramedy IN SPITE OF US–formerly known as The One That Got Away. The STX Entertainment project, based on the novel Beginner’s Greek by James Collins, follows an investment banker who meets his soul mate on a plane but loses her phone number, and he later discovers that his best friend has married the woman. Mark Hammer is writing the script. Donald De Line will produce through his De Line Pictures alongside Paul Brooks for Gold Circle Films and Charles Weinstock. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber and April Prosser penned previous drafts.
Best known for her performance as Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Clarke starred in last summer’s Terminator Genisys and can next be seen opposite Sam Claflin in the romantic drama Me Before You. [Watch the trailer for Me Before You here.]
Hammer penned the 2014 indie hit Two Night Stand, starring Analeigh Tipton and Miles Teller, and wrote for MTV’s U.S. version of the British teen drama Skins. His slasher comedy spec You’ll Be The Death Of Me was in development at Lionsgate and Madeville with E.L. Katz attached to direct.
De Line Pictures is the company behind Pain & Gain, The Italian Job, and Burlesque. De Line entered the TV arena with Fox’s Wayward Pines, which was renewed for a second season set to premiere this summer, and is now in pre-production on the Steven Spielberg-directed feature adaptation of Ernest Cline’s best-selling novel Ready Player One. Brooks and Gold Circle produce the Pitch Perfect franchise and recently revived their 2002 smash hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding with a sequel due out this summer. Weinstock’s producer credits include thriller Fracture, teen comedy Fired Up!, and indie drama What Maisie Knew.
