We’re hearing that the TV pilot spec SEARCH FOR LIFE, from first-timer Andrea Janakas is out to studios, and has a preemptive offer on the table from eOne, with other studios and networks circling aggressively. In the vein of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the pilot centers on a man whose recently deceased wife’s remains are declared “inhuman” by doctors. He sets out to find his real wife, whom he is certain is still out there, and in the process uncovers a dark conspiracy. Laurence Fishburne is producing through his Cinema Gypsy Productions, alongside Brooklyn Weaver and Jonathan Krauss.
The package is represented by Jennifer Good at Paradigm, which reps Fishburne as well. Fishburne, we’ve learned, has a first-look deal with eOne. Weaver and Krauss, meanwhile, have worked together before; they are producing partners on the Warner Bros. I Am Legend reboot with Roy Lee, Joby Harold, and Akiva Goldman, as well as on the feature-turned-TV spec Eden from 2014 Young & Hungry writer Andrew Godoski.
Janakas is a newcomer to the TV pilot game, but her writing chops are not in question. She’s a graduate of the American Film Institute, where she wrote and directed the short film Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves, starring Amanda Seyfried. If you want to get a look at her work, you can see the film here.
Janakas is repped by Paradigm and Infinity Management International.
