We’re thrilled to announce that 2015 Launch Pad Pilot Competition Top 10 Finalists Charlotte Cohn-Williams & Jason Odell Williams have signed with Kathy Muraviov of The Muraviov Company! The Williams’ pilot entry Birdland turned all of our judges’ heads with its clever concept and charming writing, and the Williams have many agencies circling closer by the minute, too.
In her 20+ years working with scripts at NBC Universal, Muraviov honed her skills working on a slew of high-profile projects— including Erin Brockovich, Scent of a Woman, The Nutty Professor, and The Mummy franchise. She then took all that expertise and transitioned it into her own The Muraviov Company back in 2004.
Since then, Muraviov has worked closely with a number of writers, including past Launch Pad Finalists, on developing not only their scripts but their individual voices. In husband-and-wife writing team Jason and Charlotte, Muraviov instantly recognized both their potential and Birdland’s potential in spades.
The Williams have been married for 14 years and previously co-wrote the play Handle with Care, a New York Times Critics’ Pick which ran for over 100 performances Off-Broadway and has recently been optioned to be adapted into a feature. Currently, the Williams are hard at work adapting Jason’s 2013 YA novel Personal Statement into a feature for former Miramax executives Steve Hutensky and Tim Schmidt.
Birdland, their Launch Pad entry, is an upstairs-downstairs dramedy about major league baseball, centering on the reluctant new owner of Baltimore’s team. After inheriting the team from her father, she must learn to juggle her cocky players, rookie beer vendors, and diehard fans—all while trying not to strike out in her personal relationships.
