AMERICAN SONS centers around the kidnapping of the President’s 10-year-old son by a group of terrorists. His older son, a Navy SEAL, immediately springs into action to save his little brother – but does so against his father’s wishes. The storyline echoes those of ’80s action flicks like Commando or Patriot Games with the thrill and suspense of Taken.
Star Thrower’s Allan Mandelbaum will produce alongside the Whites. No casting announcements have been made at this point.
Star Thrower and Hartstone make up the team behind the upcoming Rob Reiner-directed biopic about President Lyndon B. Johnson, LBJ. The film’s all-star cast includes Woody Harrelson in the title role, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lady Bird Johnson as well as C. Thomas Howell, Jeffrey Donovan, Bull Pullman, and Richard Jenkins. The film focuses on when Johnson was put into seat of President following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. It tells the story of his struggle as President to heal a nation after tragedy and to pass Kennedy’s historic Civil Rights Act.
American Sons marks Tim and Trevor White’s fourth feature under their production banner. In addition to LBJ, their company’s credits include Jamesy Boy and the thriller The Waiting, starring James Caan and Logan Miller. That film is set to premiere at SXSW in March.
