Ezra Miller is in early discussions to join Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spinoff FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. Sources reveal that Miller has long been the favorite to take on the role of Kredan, a wizard who encounters magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) when he lands in New York City on his mission to find and document magical creatures. Redmayne will star opposite Katherine Waterston as Porpentina, who was announced to star last week.
Two of the film’s remaining pivotal roles have yet to be cast: Queenie, Porpentina’s younger sister, and Jacob, a rival of Scamander’s. Rumors are that Alison Sudol is director David Yates’ choice for the role of Queenie, and that Josh Gad and Michael Cera are up for Jacob.
J.K. Rowling penned the adaptation of her own novel, with Yates directing. The pic is set to bow on Nov. 18, 2016.
Miller most recently starred opposite Billy Crudup in The Stanford Prison Experiment and will next appear in Universal’s comedy Trainwreck, which stars Amy Schumer and Bill Hader, bowing on July 17th. Miller will also appear in another Warner Bros. franchise, as scarlet speedster Barry Allen, aka The Flash. He’ll star as the hero in a solo outing slated to drop in 2018, but will first debut as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The news was first reported by Variety.
