The film is drawing from the Electronic Arts video game of the same name, which is loosely based on Italian poet Dante’s “Inferno” from “Divine Comedy.” In the film, Knight Dante Aligheri travels through the nine circles of hell with the poet Virgil to save his wife Beatrice. Bruce McKenna is the most current draft of the script with Eric Newman, Marc Abraham and Patrick O’Brien producing.

Alvarez made his feature debut with the “Evil Dead” remake, which he wrote and directed. He is currently in development on the films “Machina”, “Panic Attack” and “Evil Dead 2.”
