Another spinoff series is in the works, this time a prequel from longtime writer Bryan Cogman, Tracking Board has confirmed.

Details of the potential series are scarce, but according to EW, Cogman developed the project by working closely with A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin.

HBO is already in development in four other Game of Thrones spinoff series, with Max Borenstein and Brian Helgelan each working solo on their own potential follow-ups to the hit fantasy series and Jane Goldman and Carly Wray will each teaming up with Martin on two other projects.

There are no plot details for any of the potential series but we do know they will explore different time periods in Westeros, and none of them will feature any of the current cast members.

Any Game of Thrones spinoff – and there is no guarantee even one will ever make it to air – will not happen until the original series concludes after its upcoming eighth season.

The eighth season is slated to air in either 2018 or later.
