Joe Kosinski’s GRANITE MOUNTAIN (previously titled No Exit) has tapped Jennifer Connelly for a role in the drama, based on the 20-member Granite Mountain Hotshots who fought the deadliest wildfire in Arizona history. Connelly is set to play Amanda Marsh, the wife and “horse-whispering farrier” of the of the supervisor of the Tier One team of Hotshots.
Filmmakers spoke with the lone survivor of the 20-man crew, Brendan McDonough, in bringing to life the script from Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer. The story follows the men as they try to protect the lives of others as they are trapped on a mountainside in a circle of fire as chronicled in a GQ article.
Connelly joins previously cast Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, and Taylor Kitsch.
Black Label Media are producing with Di Bonaventura Pictures for Lionsgate. Producers are Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Mike Menchel, Erik Howsam, Jeremy Steckler, and Dawn Ostroff.
Connelly, who won an Oscar for her role in A Beautiful Mind, will star later this year opposite Ewan McGregor and Dakota Fanning in the McGregor-directed American Pastoral.
