| Why to Read: | A tried-and-true premise with plenty of thematic potential, teenagers dealing with their emerging superpowers is a seemingly endless fountain of story, and this pilot is an original and engaging incarnation of the genre. The writer does a fantastic job of describing Liam in his various physical forms, never allowing the reader to get confused or frustrated. This is a teenage character we haven’t seen before, a real accomplishment in this day and age. Plus, with a refreshingly progressive take on gender and sexuality, this pilot feels new, modern, and energetic in a way that so many teen dramas fail to. |
