The sports film WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL is running in the right direction as it has added its first four stars to its cast.
Jim Caviezel, Laura Dern, Michael Chiklis and Alexander Ludwig have joined the film, which centers on Bob Ladouceur (Caviezel) a California high school football coach who led a the hapless De La Salle Spartans to 12 straight undefeated seasons. Dern will play Ladouceur’s wife with Chiklis taking on the role of his assistant coach. Ludwig will play Chris Ryan, the team’s star running back.
David Zelon and Cathy Schulman will be producing the film, which Thomas Carter will direct from a Scott Marshall Smith script.
Caviezel, best known for his roles in “The Thin Red Line” and “The Passion of the Christ”, is repped by ICM and will next appear in the action film “Escape Plan”.
“Enlightened” star Dern most recently appeared in P.T. Anderson’s “The Master”. She is repped by CAA.
Chiklis, star of FX’s “The Shield” and the currently airing “Vegas”, last appeared in “Pawn” and is repped by WME.
After a turn as Cato in the box-office hit “Hunger Games”, Ludwig will appear in Peter Berg’s adaptation of Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell’s book “Lone Surivor”. He is repped by ICM and Lucas Talent.
