Four New Stars Pack Their Bags For Camp In “Wet Hot America Summer”


AmericanSummerNew rumors are circulating that the eight-part series, , could be adopting four additional names to their role call.

, , and have been tapped to appear in either guest starring or recurring roles in the Michael Showalter and David Wain limited series. 

If they agree, they look to join some of their closest friends in the returning cast. SNL vet Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon and Kevin Sussman are just some of the faces set to make star in the comedy. That is, in addition to previously reported newbies Hamm’s Mad Men co-star John Slattery, Michaela Watkins, Josh Charles, Randall Park, Jayma Mays, Lake Bell, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Richard Schiff.

Hamm is said to be playing a secret spy, while Wiig would play a highbrow counselor from the rival camp Camp Tigerclaw. Schwartzman will be head counselor while Pine’s character is described as “mysterious.”

The limited series serves as a prequel to its predecessor. The 2001 film was set on the last day at a fictional Jewish summer camp in 1981, while the new series is set on the first day. 

Neflix just released a first teaser for the project, set to debut in the summer.

Wain returns as both writer and director for the series and Showalter will serve as showrunner. Both will serve as executive alongside Howard Bernstein, Jonathan Stern and Peter Principato.
