Get ready to pucker up, because 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios are teaming up to adapt FROGKISSER!, the upcoming book from fantasy novelist Garth Nix. The book is a fun take on the classic princess/kiss/curse-breaking fairy tale.
Set to be published in February 2017 by Scholastic in the U.S. and Picadilly Press in the U.K., the book follows Princess Anya who has the magical ability to break curses with a kiss. She sets off on a quest to free her land from her evil stepfather, aided by a talking dog and a boy thief trapped in the body of a newt.
Ralph Millero will oversee the project, which is set to be a live-action and animation hybrid as well as a musical. Earlier this year, Fox hired Nate Hopper to further their animation initiative.
Nix is best known as a fantasy author behind series like The Old Kingdom, The Seventh Tower, and The Keys to the Kingdom.
