Fox Orders Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” Straight to Series

Whether you love him or hate him (or are unable to watch his shows because of the ick factor), is a highly profitable commodity these days. And one that Fox is not willing to let go of now that Glee is on its last legs and ending next year. The network has given a straight-to-series order to , a comedy-horror anthology from Murphy and frequent partners and . The series will consist of 15 episodes and the first season will revolve around a college campus that’s rocked by a series of murders. And given Murphy’s penchant for the grotesque, expect those murders to be gruesome.  The show takes its title from the label given to actresses strongly linked to horror films and it’s our guess that the show will a feature a whole lot of screaming.

This marks Murphy’s third anthology series that’s been picked up and the third that will be on the air. He already has the highly successful American Horror Story, which is currently airing its fourth season and already renewed for a fifth, and his upcoming American Crime Story, which is still waiting on a premiere date.  It also points towards a trend in the making – AHS, True Detective, and Fargo are already filling out the anthology series format. Scream Queens comes from 20th Century Fox , where Murphy and Falchuk have overall deals. Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan and Dante Di Loreto (Glee) will executive produce the project.
